Delicious, the mid-palate is full-bodied and adds a lot to the flavour profile.

OUR STORY

The Cape Fold collection was conceptualised on a wine-grape farm in the Breedekloof Valley. We found inspiration from the 1969 Tulbagh earthquake, which shook the entire Breedekloof Valley.

The memories of the earthquake still stand strong in the valley.

Thus began the journey along the Worcester Fault and the Cape Fold Belt to understand and celebrate the legacy of the ancient geological forces that today shape our wines.

Behind the Label

The artwork for the label tells the story of the Cape Fold wines: it looks from above, down towards the mountains and valleys of the Cape Fold Belt. Through the movement of a pen, the valley becomes a puzzle of geometric shapes, echoing the origami mountains of the Cape Fold Belt. The silhouettes of these “erupted” and “folded” mountains are reflected in the earth and lines of pen.

A continuous line of ink traces the many parcels of farmlands and vineyards in the Breedekloof Valley, creating an interplay of shapes, spaces and a jagged outlines, reminiscent of the dramatic rocky mountains that embrace the valley.

The valley, segmented along the fault through colour. And just across the fault, the home of Cape Fold wines, a spot of colour surrounded by white and black.

Abstracting the lay of the land and paying homage to the fault line that runs in this section of the Cape Fold belt with a network of colours.
